FM-2 Wildcat 1:72 Expert Set Arma Hobby - Model review

The last produced variant of the Wildcat was created by thinning F4F-4 and adding a more powerful engine. You don't need to be an expert to guess that thanks to such a modification plane with wery good performance was created. This is also comfirmed by the fact that it was most widely produced version of it. The plane was named FM-2 Wildcat.

Box have beautiful boxart, on the back of it there are marking shemes.

Kit contains two grey plastic sprues and clear one, photoedged parts, masks for canopy, big sheet with decals and of course instruction sheet.

Plastic parts are very nicely molded, their sharpness and thinness are amazing. In addition the delicate panel lines makes the whole present very good. You could say that almost nothing is missing here. Well almost because there are no rivets on it.

Arma Hobby can do such things, for example on firewall there are great positive rivets.

The other parts are designed with the same care. Cockpit elements are well molded and adequate to the scale.

It will be a pity to lock it inside a fuselage. Hopefully it will be able to look inside through the glazing. Parts are delicate and thin, but they loose a bit of transparency. Polishing with an proper paste will solve the problem, I think.

Engine is well molded too. After adding pe-parts included in kit it should look more than satysfying. For those who like to improve models it will be good base for further modyfications.

Photoedged parts are located on a rather small plate, but in my opinion everything we need is included. There is instrument panel, some tiny details for cockpit, seat belts and ignition wires for engine. I'll repeat that - all you need in this scale.

The last but not least used in built are decals. Those were printed by Techmod and meet modern standards. Well saturated colours with sharp edges and readable even smallest stencils.

Instruction sheet is printed in form of a booklet. In my opinion it need some cautness before start of build, due to the large amount of drawings on a rather small area.

On last pages there are marking shemes.

As you can see one scheme is not complete. Don't panic, corrected version is available on Arma Hobby's website.

In the conclusion, I find the FM-2 Wildcat model a very good miniature. Anyway, there are a lot of photos of Wildcats already builded from this kit. In my opinion it is a great kit for person who will made it straight out from the box and a very good basis for further modifications like riveting for example.
