Mezek (Avia S-199) Dual Combo 1:72 - Eduard - Model review

For over more than year Eduard has focused on 1:48 scale. This resulted in lack of many kits in 1:72 scale kits released by this Chech manufacturer. Fortunatelly in recent months Eduard has released reeditions of some kits in smaller scale. The culmination of this action is brand new limited edition Avia  S-199 kit. In Czech Republic plane was named Mezek what does Mule means.

Box is full of plastic.

There is doubled sprue A with clear parts.

One sprue that contains fuselage with erla canopy (E).

One sprue that contains fuselage with bubble canopy (F).

Doubled sprue with small parts (C).

And doubled sprue with wings (D).

Parts are well designed. Fuselage and wings are well molded with thin panel lines and sharp details. Moreover the entire plane is rivetted and it looks fantastic!

On the inner side of wings there is molded internal structure of flaps which are connected to the oil cooler. So it can be built in open or closed option.

Some parts of interior are molded on the inner side of fuselage halves.

The rest are designed as separate parts.

Main parto of cockpit with floor and backwall is well molded too.

Instrument panel is designed in two variats, for decals and for photoedged part.

Other small parts are very well molded too.

There are two variants of tyres in the kit.

And two types of external fuel tank.

Tail wheel also looks pretty good.

Also main wheel bays.

Unfortunately exhaust pipes require drilling.

It will be hard to glue aerial wire, but that part look really good.

Only part that I can complain on it is air intake under engine. It looks very heavy.

Transparent parts are beautiful. Sharp, thin and crystal clear.

Because this is limited edition there are two plates with photoedged parts.

And pre-cut canopy masks.

Kit includes three decal sheets. One big with all main markings and two with stencils.

Printed by Eduard so they have thick film and some colours are unsaturaded. Especially blue and red.

Stencils are of better quality, with sharp edges and readable even smallest inscriptions.

Instruction sheet is a bit confusing. There are many steps where we have to choose wich part use, so I recommend to read instruction carefully before build.

A special feature of limited editions is the multitude of painting schemes, Eduard offers twelve of them this time.

On last two pages there are stenciling positions.

In conclusion, at first look kit seems to be very well molded with beautiful details and attractive markings schemes.
