Ki-84 Hayate Special Attack Units 1:72 Arma Hobby - Model review
We had to wait a while for another box of Ki-84 Hayate from Arma Hobby. At least compared to the Mustangs, of which several sets have already been released. Because the Expert Set sold out some time ago, I expected Hayate to be released in a new convention without photoedged parts but with canopy masks. And here it is:
70053 Ki-84 Hayate Special Attack Units
The box is decorated with a very dynamic boxart presenting Hayate in one of the last moments before hitting the target. On the back, as usual, there are side views, with this time three available painting shemes.
Inside we find the same plastic as in previous Ki-84 kits:
Because when it comes to quality, nothing has changed for a year, so for a detailed discussion of the content, I refer you to previous review. Here I am just putting in a quick overview of what you can expect in the box.
The instruction, printed in the form of a legible booklet, has not changed either:
In the list of contents of the set visible on the first page, there is no information about the canopy masks included in this kit.
However, as you can see there are included high quality precut in kabuki paper canopy masks.
On the last pages there are painting schemes.
As you can easily see, two of them require quite large decals.
The print is sharp and of very good quality with a thin and barely visible film.
Unfortunately, the seatbelts are only available as decals. However, the Japanese probably did not pay too much attention to the health and safety of the pilots, so seatbelts are not too complicated and it will be relatively easy to make them by yourself/use a decal. In addition, the manufacturer rewards the preorders of the model by adding free 3D printed accessories. In this case, these were: a seat with seatbelts, exhaust pipes and a few levers for cockpit. So it's worth following announcements and news, for example on the manufacturer's website, and if the set is in our area of interest, buy it with these bonuses. In my opinion, this is a win-win situation in which both sides, the modeller and the manufacturer, should be satisfied.
As you can see, the good streak in Arma continues. No wonder, each subsequent set is at a very high level. Waiting for the next absolutely new kit, AH releases older models again. After the refreshed Hurricanes, the manufacturer from Warsaw decided to remind you that it has a well-designed kit of a Japanese fighter in its portfolio. For those who are wondering how it fits, I refer you to the build raport of Hayate Expert Kit.
